Julien MALZIEU

South France. Freshwater fisherman.

Julien Malzieu, 42 years old.

Originally from Auvergne, I later moved to the south of France near Montpellier, where I now enjoy a wide variety of fishing environments, from rivers and canals to lakes. A former professional rugby player, I discovered fishing almost by chance at the age of 18 during summer holidays. What started as simple curiosity quickly turned into a true passion that now plays a central role in my life.

Since then, I spend a lot of time on the water, very often fishing from a float tube to approach fish with discretion and freedom. I have a particular preference for surface fishing for catfish, a highly visual and explosive technique, as well as sight fishing for chub and carp, where observation and precision are essential. These active and technical approaches perfectly match the way I like to fish.

Naturally curious, I enjoy exploring all techniques and targeting a wide range of species. What motivates me most is understanding the environment, adapting my approach, and trying to catch anything that swims in rivers and waterways. This diversity keeps every session different and constantly renews the excitement.

Being close to nature is very important to me, and I especially enjoy sharing this passion with my son. Whether it’s a simple outing or a more technical session, these moments on the water are just as meaningful as the fishing itself.

Today, I’m proud to join the SEVEN BASS Design universe. The brand’s float tubes allow me to explore new spots, expand my approaches, and fully enjoy every session, with the goal of sharing my experiences and creating new adventures on the water.
